Birthday Gag Gifts – Laughing All the Way to the Bank

We’ve all bought them, we’ve all gotten them (well, those of us in the age range)!

They’re great! We get a good laugh and the party goes on.

But what happens the next day? That gag gift usually goes into a drawer somewhere never to be seen again. It served its purpose, but is quickly forgotten.

We don’t think too much about this. However, what is the average price of a gag gift? A quick look around the internet will show you that the average price is between $9.95 and $15.00.

Now think about that, $10 for a laugh and put away. For you frugal shoppers out there, I don’t think that makes much financial sense.

Unfortunately, the manufacturers of gag gifts are more concerned about impulse buys to really care much about your money, until it gets into their hands.

I certainly don’t blame them. Business is business, and if there are buyers, why not? There are always going to be special birthdays, retirements, graduations, office parties, and numerous other occasions to bring humor into each others lives.

My question is this. With the great minds out there creating these humorous novelties, why not start with the thought of, “How can this be used after the party?” “How can I make my customer feel like they have gotten their monies worth?”

It seems like a simple request, however, search as I may; there are very few products that fit these criteria.

Let me tell you about a Gag Gift that I came up with that makes spending your hard earned money more aptly spent while accomplishing the purpose of the joke.

It’s called ‘The Denture Wearer’s Cookbook, full, partial and flippers’

Yep, a cookbook for denture wearer’s!

Well, not exactly.

It is a real cookbook designed for everyone. I’ve just given it a theme for the gag gift market. It is over 120 pages of great recipes categorized by easy, intermediate and advanced chewing.

The book is also filled with very funny cartoons with the dental theme.

Here is a sample recipe:

Chicken and Rice

Intermediate Chewing

1 whole Chicken (cut up)

2 Tablespoons butter

Salt and Pepper

Italian seasoning

Garlic salt

1 jar Home style Chicken Gravy

1 medium onion (cut up)

2 cups Minute Rice

Coat chicken with seasonings and butter, and roast in oven 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Baste chicken periodically.

Cook Minute Rice (about a minute) and line the bottom of a casserole dish with a layer of rice.

On top of rice, spoon a thin layer of the chicken gravy.

Next, some of the onion and then the Chicken.

Now, more gravy, then rice, rest of onion and then the rest of the gravy.

Return to oven for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Now, here is the best part, price.

The hard copy is only $10, but, the eBook is only $5

Five dollars for a gift that they will remember you for, and use for the rest of their lives.

To be perfectly fair here, by the time you’ve printed it out and put it in a three ring binder, wrapped it with nice wrapping paper; it’s probably going to cost you about $8.00. Still, what a value.

At Home Internet Jobs, Who Said It Was Easy?

Copyright 2005 Benjamin Scott

I’m sure you’ve heard it all before, build a website and people
will come. But if you’ve built a money-making website, that’s
not what you want to hear. After all, you picked one of these at
home internet jobs, because you want to be financially
independent and your own boss.

Here’s one alternative from the many home internet jobs you’ve
surely read on the net. Join an affiliate or partnership or
referral program. Study these three alternatives, to help you
maximize your profit streams.

1. Exclusive retailer. There are many online malls; they offer a
comprehensive range of products and services. Concentrate on
supplying the needs of a narrower market segment. You’ll be
unique and sought out. 2. Join the more profitable affiliate
program. Although there are literally hundreds you can join,
take your time. Read the FAQ section. Check out their products.
If the products and services they offer are ones you look for,
there’s a good chance that you’ll earn as an affiliate.

Other factors you may want to think about. Are the commissions
high enough, that you’ll turn a profit? Remember you’ll need to
set up your own website, and secure advertising money. Choose to
join an affiliate program whose products are mid range and will
sell it self with little effort.

3. Create a website that focuses on your passion. Although the
focus is on the range of products that the affiliate program
has, that’s not the only thing you offer. Give advice that is
contextual to the products. Maybe you could write about the
history of the products, or the processes involved in
manufacturers. You could write about the celebrities who use
this. Build a website that’s full of contents that your
customers can use to better their lives. You’ll win their trust.
They’ll soon become your most loyal customers.

Here’s one home internet job opportunity you may not have
thought of. It’s a profitable and excellent venue to a steady
stream of profits.

Be an online retailer of e-books with the reseller or reprint
rights. Here’s one of the many ways you can do it. Offer a one
time entry fee for the subscriber, it can be $20.00 a year or
life time subscription fee. The subscriber will have the right
to download any e-book from in your library. Some of the more
successful business models target niche markets. You can be a
retailer of e-books that specialize on the recipes of different
countries. Wouldn’t that be fun? You can commission e-books or
buy from known e-book authors. Read the e-books to be sure
you’re selling the real deal.

What are the benefits you received from reading that e-Book you
just purchased? Right an article or review explaining the
benefits and then get that article or review published and
placed in front of the eyes of your best prospects.

Be a dropper shipper and establish your storefront at EBay or
the competitor Yahoo auctions. EBay’s traffic alone runs to
approximately 800,000 visitors daily. It’s the worlds’ best
online auction, and you wont’ go wrong.

Now what’s a dropshipping business? It’s a business model where
you put products on a website or through EBay. You take the
orders they come and pass these on to the dropship supplier, who
ships this to your buyers.

Another way of putting it is, you’re the middleman, and you take
the orders via Paypal, credit card or fax.

All the home internet jobs here will net you profit. All you
need is a computer, internet access and basic knowledge about
your pc and the net.

Does anybody have any good vegetarian recipes that are simple?

I recently quit eating meat. I became a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian, the kind that still eats eggs and dairy products. I really need some good recipes that I could try. Help me out!

I too am lacto-ovo who recently converted to vegetarianism. I am loving it! Here are a couple of the best and easiest recipes I have found so far…

Spinach and Feta Pasta (super simple)

1 pkg penne pasta
olive oil
1/2 c chopped onion
2 cloves garlic
3 c chopped tomato
1 c mushroom
2 c fresh spinach
salt and pepper to taste
1 pinch of red pepper flakes
1 4 oz pkg of feta cheese

Cook pasta until al dente. Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over med high heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook 5 minutes. Mix in tomato, mushroom and spinach. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper. Cook 2 more minutes until spinach is wilted. Reduce heat to medium and stir in feta and pasta. Cook a couple more minutes til heated through.

This one is of my own creation:
Sweet Potato and Black Bean Enchiladas

10 corn tortillas
1 14 oz can black beans
1 14 oz can sweet potatoes
1 yellow onion
2 seeded and diced jalepenos
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp each cumin, chile powder, coriander and black pepper
1 shredded carrot
1 can salsa verde or mild enchilada sauce
1 1/2 c jack cheese

Mash sweet potatoes in a large bowl with a fork or potato masher. Add 1/2 c jack cheese, spices, jalepenos, carrot, and beans. Saute onion and garlic for 5 minutes then add to sweet potato mixture. Stir all ingredients. Put a little sauce in the bottom of a 9×13" dish. Nuke the corn tortillas for 10 seconds each in microwave so they don’t break. Roll up a little of the sweet potato mixture in each tortilla and place seam side down in dish. Pour remaining sauce and cheese over the top and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. YUM!

I hope I’ve helped. ENJOY!
