Ayurvedic Approach And Feeling Guilty After Eating Meat

In this single article I combine two different topics, Ayurvedic approach for candida and about someone’s feeling after eating meat, and that affect her diet. I have been following the Ayurvedic formula to candida. It’s a vegetarian approach that focuses on eating fresh food which is as freshly prepared as possible, while avoiding all the foods that candida love to munch on (mold, yeast, cheese, etc.) And there are a few other stipulations, like not eating too much food which is considered rajasic (heating, anger-inducing, like eggs, avocados) or tamasic (lazy-inducing, like fried, microwaved, or frozen food, or leftovers). This diet also emphasizes that no fermented food should be eaten, not even yogurt! (I’m still a bit sore about that one.) Eggs and fresh, boiled raw milk are allowed though, as well as raw honey and ghee (clarified butter), and fresh fruit in moderation. These are the treats of the diet.

Also there is no restriction on carbohydrates. I looked up yeast infections and Ayurvedic Herbs on the internet and found this very interesting website, which talks about candida albicans and how it can be cured through the use of Triphala, which is a medicine made of three Indian fruits. It’s reputed to be an all out panacea. If you’d like to learn more about this quirky sort of approach, I am always recommending the book Ayurvedic Cooking for Westerners (wherein almost all recipes are designed to heal candida) by Amadea Morningstar. A friend of mine gives her response about this. There must be differences between ayurvedic docs. She has one she is corresponding with in India – Dr. Partap Chauhan. He has been a big help – but “does” recommend milk products. He has a clinic there and some friends of mine wanted her to go stay there for a week a few years ago when she was so sick. I shift to another topic about diet, a friend of mine was a vegetarian for about 15-16 years, which is half her life. She started to eat fish and it was not easy to get rid the guilt feelings. She says thank you to the fish for providing her with sustenance while she is ill, and she hopes that one day she can go back to not eating animals. In a book she recently reads, the author says that meat eaters are often told to eat only veggies and vegetarians to start eating meat. We are all different chemically and we all need different foods. This is why she can tolerate lentils and not potatoes, but Bill over there can eat potatoes just fine. Right now, she needs to eat fish to get better. She is not going to die to save a fish’s life.

Survival of the fittest and all that. Remember that the most important things to getting well are to: *Be thankful for what you DO have (you can walk, you can talk, you can hear, you aren’t blind, you are alive); *Laugh a lot, get funny books and movies; *Have a sense of humor. I knew a woman who had a brain tumor, and she asked “does this mean I get to be a @itch and blame it on the tumor?” She also said she was going to write a book called “Tumnor Humor.” *Do whatever you must to get better. If nuclear waste would make me better, I would eat it. If walking to Hawaii would cure me, I’d do that too.
